Fraud Alert

Amarillo - February 13, 2020

Amarillo National Bank warned customers today that phone calls claiming to be from the “Amarillo National Bank Fraud Department”—which appear to come from 806-378-8000—are NOT actually from the bank. These calls are a scam.

Amarillo National Bank has not been compromised. These scammers are using unrelated security breaches and publicly available information to gather details. This shows how easy it is for crooks to dig up information online.

Here are some things to remember:

We will NEVER call or text our customers asking for personal information or account details. If someone does, it’s a scam

  • NEVER give out your 6-digit security access code or PIN number
  • NEVER use simplistic user names and passwords that would be easy to guess. The more unique you make your login credentials the less likely they can be compromised.
  • Avoid using the same user name and password for multiple online accounts.
  • Be careful what you post publicly on social media, especially if it involves personal or work details. Don’t make it easy!
  • Check your bank accounts frequently and contact us immediately if something seems suspicious.
